Facelifts
Today's image-conscious consumers are inquiring
about facial surgery a decade earlier than past
generations. "Women start coming in their 30s and
men in their 40s, says Dr. Darrick Antell,
a plastic surgeon in New York City. "Usually, the
first thing that both sexes want done is their eyelids."
New techniques for this procedure, called blepharoplasty,
enable surgeons to "tease out" the fat in the lower
eyelids from inside, leaving no visible incisions.
Using endoscopes, which are slender instruments
equipped with a camera, surgeons are also performing
"mini forehead-lifts," which, in most cases, result
in a natural appearance.
